Northeast part of the State
The northeast of the state of Guanajuato, the richest region in terms of mountain landscapes, can be reached by way of San José Iturbide and on highway 57 from Querétaro to San Luis Potosí, 53 km from San Miguel de Allende. In this zone lived Chichimeca tribes that maintained their resistance to the Spanish conquest to the last moment and left vestiges of cave drawings. Pozos, a mining ghost town, in the municipality of San Luis de la Paz, is worth a visit.
